In the competitive world of business, companies are always seeking ways to recruit and retain top talent in the employees that work for them. Part of this means creating an enticing, engaging, and collaborative area where employees can mingle, relax, play, and brainstorm. Belle and her talented team were given the challenge to create and design this type of collaborative space – but in the basement of a drab and uninviting building. The battle cry was to rally what was good and get rid of the rest. Rooms and spaces were opened up, walls came down, and lighting was greatly increased. Infused with pops of color and pattern, designated pods began to emerge where people could either find alone time in a quiet corner, or interact in a lively gaming area. Rather than overly theming the rooms with contrived colors and an arcade aesthetic, Belle decided to keep the pallet fresh and crisp, focusing on light and bright areas that combine function with relaxation or playfulness. The overall effect is nothing short of transformative. Even after spending a considerable amount of time in the space, you would be hard pressed to notice there are no windows and no natural outdoor lighting.
