SkYhouse

Salt Lake City, UT

From it’s glittering entry lobby to the knockout SkYdeck, SkYhouse is a cut above the rest in design, quality and chic living in downtown Salt Lake City. Located on one of downtown’s most visible corners, SkYhouse sets a new standard in the multi-family industry. In a sea of bland apartment community sameness, SkYhouse stands out in spades, and for good reason. When Belle Kurudzija and the talented team at Lisman Studio started with their initial design exploration of the project, they knew they wanted it to be different. Very different, daring, and glamorous. They studied iconic apartment building lobbies of the past and took all that was good and applied it to their eventual SkYhouse design. A timeless black and white palette punctuated with pops of vivid emerald greens, gold, and blush pinks gives the project an upscale feel – there is nothing frumpy about SkYhouse. Already the talk of the town a week after opening, SkYhouse is quickly establishing itself as the place to live in the heart of the city. A handsome model, furnished with a Balinese theme, shows that an apartment need never be ordinary. Belle and her team played with an array of colors to create a lively and playful space that feels modern and fun all at the same time. The Club Room has the sophistication of a downtown hot spot and the comfort of a private club without coming off stuffy or pretentious. A stunning array of unique materials and millwork makes the Club Room feel larger than it is and gives it tremendous appeal. The Lisman team didn’t stop the design innovation with the interiors of the project. The fabulous SkYdeck offers sweeping views of the Salt Lake City skyline and the Wasatch Mountains. The traditional black, white and emerald theme continues with the SkYdeck and into the lower courtyard areas. Belle proves once again that her team’s work is anything but typical. In an industry of copycats, this is one property that will remain memorable for a considerable time to come. Fashion says, “look at me,” but style says, “only me.” SkYhouse takes that to heart in it’s unsurpassed location, point of view and elegance.

Vault 275

Salt Lake City, UT

In the competitive world of business, companies are always seeking ways to recruit and retain top talent in the employees that work for them. Part of this means creating an enticing, engaging, and collaborative area where employees can mingle, relax, play, and brainstorm. Belle and her talented team were given the challenge to create and design this type of collaborative space – but in the basement of a drab and uninviting building. The battle cry was to rally what was good and get rid of the rest. Rooms and spaces were opened up, walls came down, and lighting was greatly increased. Infused with pops of color and pattern, designated pods began to emerge where people could either find alone time in a quiet corner, or interact in a lively gaming area. Rather than overly theming the rooms with contrived colors and an arcade aesthetic, Belle decided to keep the pallet fresh and crisp, focusing on light and bright areas that combine function with relaxation or playfulness. The overall effect is nothing short of transformative. Even after spending a considerable amount of time in the space, you would be hard pressed to notice there are no windows and no natural outdoor lighting.

Rivulet

American Fork, UT

When this multifamily residence client decided to open up in a new market, image and quality was crucial. The approach was to do something that was fresh, new and bold. Belle and her talented team took the challenge to heart and the result is Rivulet, a 264 residence property located in American Fork, Utah. While having valuable input on the “Modern Farmhouse” exterior design, the design team was also forging away on interiors that were bold with a sophisticated youthful feel. Studying the demographic of the potential residents it became clear that they wanted a Club House, and Club Room that were functional and thoughtfully appointed. A terrific Fitness Center, Well Beats room and Indoor Golf Simulator contribute to the upscale vibe of the property. If the show starts at the street, Rivulet is the winner hands down. Once you enter the Club House and Leasing Offices the potential tenant experiences the “leasing moment” in an impressive way. The Club House is in constant use for a variety of activities and events – always to rave reviews.

Two tastefully appointed Model Apartments feature beautifully appointed kitchens, spacious bedroom suites and upscale living and dining areas. The vibe from the Club House continues in the models. Young, fresh and urban interiors feature gender neutral colors, materials and furnishings. The palette flows effortlessly from space to space, giving the apartments a light and open feeling, appealing to a variety of potential tenants. It’s no surprise the project has been a tremendous success, with high occupancy rates and new residences leased as soon as they are completed.

Jade Bloom

Draper, UT

For their rapidly growing industry and business, Jade Bloom Essential Oils, with headquarters located in Draper, Utah, felt the time had come to open their first retail location. Working closely with Belle, they established their brand and culture, while also working with a conservative budget. While reworking an existing space, efforts were made to keep and repurpose as many materials and interior finishes as possible. But some simply did not work or meet the culture of Jade Bloom. Selecting elements from nature and focusing on natural woods and plants, Belle created an atmosphere of freshness and contemplation. She didn’t just create a shop that looked good. She also wanted it to “feel” good. The final result is not only charming, but stylish and efficient as well. Belle also carefully designed a space that can grow with the client as their business continues to expand, allowing for a host of events and services that they plan on incorporating in the near future.

The Ridge

Sandy, UT

For this massive Multi-Family project located in Sandy, Utah, Belle Kurudzija took her design inspiration from the project’s sweeping views of the Wasatch Mountains. Belle and her Associate, Emily Hatfield, were closely involved in the project from concept through completion. Working thoughtfully with the builder’s budgets they selected interior materials and finishes with an upscale look on a relatively frugal budget. Anyone can throw money at a project. It takes a designer with skill, experience and a deft approach to negotiating to achieve great design on a budget. This was handled so well at The Ridge that the final prestigious design feels seamless and effortless. A breathtaking Club Room, Leasing Office and Lobby area immediately give someone entering a feeling of class, elegance and high-end living. With the Multi-Family housing arena exploding across the Wasatch Front, it’s vital that communities establish a brand and identity. Belle was closely involved with the branding for The Ridge project, including the design of their signature logo, interior and exterior signage and even the placing of exterior lighting on the patio deck areas. It’s impossible to walk through the entire project without seeing a detail, a material choice, furnishings, lighting and flooring, and a hundred other design elements that were not selected with great care and research by Belle and her team. One of her most successful projects to date, The Ridge quickly established the raising of a bar by Belle, creating a new standard of excellence in Multi-Family properties without equal. From the exterior materials and color selections, to the sweeping patio and deck areas, and the beautifully executed model residences and public spaces, this project truly has it all – and the talented team at Lisman Studio was privileged to be a part of it.

The Day Cafe

Henry Day For, West Valley City

Belle Kurudzija and her Associate, Emily Hatfield had an absolutely delightful experience providing design services for The Day Café at Henry Day Ford. One of the best parts of working at Lisman Studio is our design teams never know what adventures their next project will bring. This project was no exception. The challenge? How to create a fun, energetic and welcoming café area in the midst of a bustling and busy car dealership. The owners wanted a place where guests could unwind, relax and take a break from the rigors of the fast paced auto industry. Utilizing her attention to detail, Belle left no area of the café void of her thoughtful approach to the design. The result is a space that is bright, fresh and inviting, and judging by the menu, it’s ready for a test drive!

Arboretum At Barber Station

Boise, ID

Belle and her talented team once again bring a chic sense of style to a new multifamily development located in Boise, Idaho. Arboretum, a stunning new community on the banks of the Boise River Greenbelt and nestled at the bottom of rolling foothills, sets the standard for upscale apartment living. Located next to Marianne Williams Park, Belle found inspiration from nature as her beautiful design scheme unfolded. Light, bright and fresh, would be words to describe this fantastic and sophisticated design. Belle always incorporates natural lighting into all of her designs, and Arboretum is no exception. A two story lobby with a cozy fireplace greets you upon entering the Sales Office and Club House area. Your first impression is the attention to every detail and the scale of the space. Soaring ceilings and two story draperies serve to emphasize the dynamics of this striking room. Even the grouping of seating feels bold, strong and sophisticated.

Liberty Center

Provo, UT

The challenge for this urban project was to infuse the interior spaces with a sense of respect for the past, while still looking towards the future. The new multi-family community, Liberty Crest, is located in the heart of historical downtown Provo. An area rich in heritage and history provides the perfect inspiration for this upscale development. Exposed and painted brick, vertical shiplap walls and a stark and a predominantly achromatic color scheme, create a space that is both inviting and slightly quirky. Furnishings and lighting from a variety of different periods give the rooms a feeling of being furnished over time. Midcentury meets gentlemen’s club and everything else in-between.  In this clever and innovative installation, Belle has created a vibrant hipster hub, while still paying homage to the varied history of a great town. The Lobby and Club Room will welcome future generations of Provo’s rapidly expanding community and make them feel right at home.

Midtown 360

Orem, UT

Belle Kurudzija once again brings her talented design skills to the forefront at Midtown 360, a multi-family project located in Orem, Utah. For a formerly blighted construction site that had been abandoned for years, no ordinary design scheme would suffice. Larger than life furniture scaled to accommodate a voluminous and rather awkward space, provides instant visual interest without ever being overwhelming. A timeless color pallet will serve the client well and keep the spaces feeling revived and new, avoiding costly renovations down the road.
